Contact Interactions at the LHC
نویسنده
چکیده
Contact interactions offer a general framework for describing a new interaction with a scale above the energy scale probed. These interactions can occur if the StandardModel particles are composite or if new heavy particles are exchanged. The discovery potential of contact interactions at the LHC in dimuon and dijet final states at startup and the asymptotic reach are presented. PACS. 12.60.Rc Composite models

Production and Decay of Excited Electrons at the LHC
We study single production of excited electrons at the CERN LHC through contact interactions of fermions. Subsequent decays of excited electrons to ordinary electrons and light fermions via gauge and contact interactions are examined. The mass range accessible with the ATLAS detector is obtained. PACS: 12.60.Rc, 13.85.Rm
متن کاملConstraints on qq̄γγ Contact Interactions at Future Hadron Colliders
We explore the capability of the Tevatron and LHC as well as other future hadron colliders to place limits on the possible existence of flavor-independent qq̄γγ contact interactions which can lead to an excess of high pt diphoton events with large invariant masses. Constraints on the corresponding eeγγ contact interaction already exist from LEP. In the case of hadron colliders, strong constraint...
متن کاملProduction of Excited Neutrino at LHC
The proliferation of quarks and leptons can be naturally explained by the assumption that they are composite objects. According to models of compositeness[1], known fermions are bound states of more fundamental constituents – preons [2] or a fermion and a boson [3]. In the framework of these models, constituents of known fermions interact by means of new strong gauge interactions. One of the ma...

متن کاملExotic (non-SUSY) searches at the LHC
New studies on exotic (non-SUSY) searches beyond the Standard Model are reviewed, which include contact interactions using jet pT spectrum, leptoquark production, signals for new gauge bosons and extra dimensions, monojet events expected in ADD extra dimension scenarios, 4th generation quarks, and heavy stable charged particles. Emphasis is given to the potential for early discoveries at the LH...
